Why does Coconut Milk solidify?
Chef's Choice Coconut Milk is made from natural ingredients, and sometimes, once opened, one may find the creamy layer on top. Or even notice that the entire Coconut Milk content has solidified.
Our Coconut Milk is made by pressing fresh Coconut Meat with water, extracting the rich coconut fat in the process. With a higher percentage of fat content, upon exposure to a cool temperature, the content may separate into two layers or become completely solidified.

It is natural for Coconut Milk to separate
Often, when stored in a cooler environment (less than 24°C approximately), or upon defrosting the stored Coconut Milk. The natural fats might solidify, resulting in the separation of Coconut Milk into two layers:
- A thick and creamy Coconut Cream on top
- A thinner Coconut Liquid at the bottom
Do note that this indicates the natural characteristic of authentic Coconut Milk and 'does not' signify the spoilage of the Coconut Milk.

Is Solidified Coconut Milk Safe to Consume?
Yes!
Solidification is a completely natural process of Coconut Milk which does not affect the quality, provided that:
- Coconut Milk is within expiry date
- The packaging is intact and undamaged

To restore its original texture, simply heat the product in a saucepan over low heat.
Stirring occasionally until the texture becomes smooth and creamy.
