Late 1930s Pui Sui Heng, a young Chinese
The story of Chef's Choice begins with a young Chinese immigrant from mainland China, Pui Sui Heng, who opened a small coconut shop from his home along the Chao Phraya River in Bangkok's Tha Tian area. In those early days, whole coconuts were traded locally and transported by boat along the river, supplying markets and kitchens across the region.
​From these humble beginnings, Mr. Pui's dedication to quality and freshness transformed his small Riverside shop into the city's largest coconut trader, laying the foundation for what would become a trusted name in authentic Thai coconut products worldwide.​



1970 It began with a young man’s vision


With the support of researchers from the Ministry of Science and Technology, Pui developed an innovative method and formulation to safely pack Thai coconut milk in cans while preserving its rich, natural flavor. This breakthrough not only extended the self life of coconut milk but also gave Pui a new vision that he could produce & share authentic Thai coconut products with everuone around the world.
1972 The First Coconut Milk Manufacturer in Thailand
In 1972, P.S.H Food Processing ltd. was established as Thailand's first canned coconut milk manufacture, marking a milestone in the country's coconut milk industry. The company invested in advance machinery to standardize the process of producing premium coconut milk at scale. For the local market, pasteurized coconut milk was introduced under the Samui brand, while the Chef's Choice brand was created for canned coconut milk for the export market.
​Focusing exclusively on production, the factory partnered with trusted international traders to distribute its products worldwide. Within its very first year, Chef's Choice coconut milk reached key markets in North America, Europe, and Oceania, establishing the brand as a global name in authentic Thai coconut products.



1978 From P.S.H.Food Processing Ltd. to
Chef’s Choice Foods Manufacturer Co., Ltd.
As Thai coconut milk gained strong international recognition and global demand surge, the factory underwent a major expansion —adding new production facilities, advanced machinery, and skilled labor. In the same year, the Ko brothers joined the business, bringing fresh vision and expertise.
To meet growing opportunities abroad, P.S.H. Food Processing Ltd. shifted to manage its coconut milk exports directly. This strategic move marked a new chapter for the company, which was officially renamed Chef's Choice Foods Manufacturer Co., Ltd.—a name now synonymous worldwide with authentic Thai coconut milk and premium coconut products.




1989 New production lines
​By connecting with diverse regions across the globe, Chef’s Choice identified a growing demand for a wide range of authentic Thai food products. Building on the success of its premium Thai coconut milk, the brand expanded its portfolio to include canned tropical fruits and vegetables, flavorful Thai sauces, aromatic Thai curry pastes, and a variety of traditional Thai condiments. These new product lines not only broaden Chef’s Choice’s offerings but also reinforce its position as a trusted global supplier of authentic Thai cooking ingredients, bringing the rich flavors of Thailand to kitchens worldwide.

1990 Market expansion began taking place
